This new D3 variant of S60, S80 and XC60, comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 163bhp. All entry-level D3 variants get standard leather interiors. The D3 is claimed to have a different injection system for the piezoelectric fuel injector in comparison with the D5 engine and this gives it a smoother driving experience and efficient mileage.
Volvo says that with the new D3 engine, the S60 will deliver 18.5kmpl, the S80 17.8kmpl and the XC60 14.7kmpl.
The S60 D3 is priced at Rs 23.2 lakh, the XC60 D3 at Rs 33.2 lakh and the S80 D3 at Rs 31.2 lakh. Volvo says all prices are introductory and will go up by Rs 70,000 on all D3 variants from March this year.
